Based on the classic esponiage novel by John Buchnan, The Thirty-Nine Steps involves one of Hitchcock's favorite themes: an innocent man on the run. The Thirty-Nine Steps is listed by the British Film Institute as the 4th Best British film of the 20th century and was a personal favorite of Orson Welles, who adapted it for his own Mercury Theatre. Running time 86 minutes, not rated

In 1971, International Women's Day marchers took over a Harvard Building in Cambridge, MA. Their ensuing 10-day standoff with local authorities provides a timely examination of the power of protest to achieve some much-needed social change. Left on Pearl won "Best Documentary" at the Boston International Film Festival. Movie runs 55 minutes, free and open to all  Sponsored by the Friends of WPL
