Weston Cultural Council

The Weston Cultural Council, the local component of the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC), is seeking two members to begin terms starting this spring. Appointed by the Select Board, local Council members are responsible for fulfilling the MCC mission—"to provide access, education, and diversity in the arts, humanities, and interpretive sciences in order to improve the quality of life and contribute to the economic vitality of our communities."

Together, the members of the Weston Cultural Council collaborate throughout the year to solicit and evaluate MCC grant applications, determine recipients, and successfully administer the council grants. Along with publicizing and promoting the annual grant process, Weston’s members conduct outreach to potential grantees and oversee the individual grants once they are awarded. Currently, the Weston Cultural Council is also beginning an exciting time with expected funding growth and initiatives to develop and produce additional, innovative programming, designed to expand the scope of the arts and culture specifically in our town and for our residents.

Typically, the Weston Cultural Council will convene monthly August through May. Prospective members should have a strong interest in the arts, humanities, and/or sciences, and be ready and able to take an active role throughout the annual Cultural Council process. In particular, the Council is seeking new members who are eager to assist in a variety of endeavors—ranging from public relations and event planning to financial management and grant administration—that advance the Weston Cultural Council’s overall mission.
