Time to Update Zoom!

If you have not already updated Zoom, it's possible that the next time you log on to a class, you will be required to do so. For that reason, we suggest logging into your class ahead of time to ensure you can get in.
  1. Search for Zoom on your computer.
  2. Open Zoom and locate the blue icon in the top right-hand corner. It likely has the letter of your first name (or "Zoom name") in it
  3. In the drop-down menu, click Check for Updates
  4. If you require an update, it will let you know. Click Update and follow instructions on the screen.
If you are using a smart phone or tablet, visit your app store and click on where it says "Updates" then click on Zoom and Update.

Please try upgrading Zoom on your own first.
Zoom has a useful video with instructions for updating, here. If you have any issues, please let us know. We can walk you through it. The best way to receive support is to email Kristen at frady.k@westonma.gov Alternatively, you can contact the COA by phone but be aware that we are not in the office to immediately answer your call.

Visa card

When it looks like a scam it usually is…unless it isn’t?

Economic Impact Payment Prepaid Direct Debit Card

We are all accustomed to throwing out junk mail indiscriminately that looks too good to be true; you have won a new car, here is a million dollars just send us a check for the postage, etc. But be on the lookout for a non-descript white envelope from “Money Network Cardholder Services.” For those who have not received their Economic Impact Payment by direct deposit or check you could be receiving a prepaid debit card in a plain white envelope. The letter will include a visa prepaid debit card with your name on it and activation instructions.

If you receive a card you will have to activate it and set up a four-digit pin before it can be used. Call the number included in the letter and not one you find online by googling where fake websites could have been set up. When you call to activate your card you will be asked the card number, last six digits of your social security number, three digit security code from the back of the card and questions to validate your identity such as your name or address. You will not receive a call asking you for this info, this is info that you will give when you call after receiving a card. Do not give anyone the pin number or give out your social security number if you receive an unsolicited call about an Economic Impact Payment.

Many have thrown out their payment without even knowing it. If you threw it away you are not alone, call 800-240-8100 for a replacement.
Visit eip.com to find out more information about Economic Impact Cards and be sure to look at what transactions will be charged fees. As always the COA is here to help you make sense of items that may be scams and are happy to talk to you with emails, mailings, or calls that you find suspicious or to point you toward more information.
