COVID-19 Testing in Weston

Weston's Fire Department is holding in-town COVID-19 testing for Weston residents only. There are 40 testing slots available daily between 8:00 a.m. and noon, Monday through Friday. The test cost is $100 for residents. Register for a time slot in advance and bring a check made out to the "Town of Weston."  Testing used will be the PCR method.

Cooking Class: Traditional Ayurvedic Winter Delight

Winter is upon us and the nippy weather makes us crave warming foods. For ages, Ayurvedic Indian food has been known for its traditional recipes based on seasons. Sesame seed laddoos and wheat laddoos are two common desserts that are prepared in the Northern part of India. This ancient food is loaded with fiber, protein, healthy fats, antioxidants and B-vitamins that may help strengthen bones, promote digestion and prevent inflammation in your body. Sesame seeds contain nutrients like zinc, iron and vitamin E etc. that are known to boost immunity and protect us from the seasonal cold and flu. Explore these Ayurvedic Indian desserts with Anjana Bhargava, as she shows you how to prepare these traditional recipes from North India that will keep you warm and healthy this winter season.

Iraq Series

Wednesdays, January 20, 27 & February 3, 1:00-2:00 on Zoom

This 3-session introduction to Iraq is concentrated on the span of 1979 – 2016. The series touches on other countries in the Middle East which affect Iraq dramatically, particularly Syria and Iran, and will address the tensions between Arabs and non-Arabs (Kurds, Persians, Turks), between Sunni and Shia Islam, and between secular Muslims and Islamic Fundamentalists. A considerable amount of time will be spent covering the Iran – Iraq war and the 2 Persian Gulf wars, including an examination of US policy in regard to these wars. There will be some time devoted to class discussion evaluating US policy towards Iraq. Presenter Jim Buxton is a retired high school social studies teacher, specializing in honors global studies and international relations. He has taught in the Political Science Dept at the University of Rhode Island and lifelong learning institutes. This program will be recorded.

Neuropathy Support Group on Zoom

Thursday, January 21, 1:00-3:00

These monthly meetings are open to anyone with neuropathy as well as family and friends. Stan Chang of the Sun Tai Chi Institute of Boston will present on how Tai Chi and Qigong can relieve symptoms of neuropathy.
