Adventures in Architecture: The Crystal Palace
June 25, 2021, 1:30-2:30 on Zoom
Today, a tip of the hat to prince consorts. First, we'll take a look at the Crystal Palace, brainstorm of Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria, built to house the Great London Exhibition of 1851. Met first with derision, it finally earned for Albert, the respect he had so long sought. Then, in tribute to the late Prince Philip, consort of Queen Elizabeth II, we'll explore the 240-bedroom Buckingham Palace, the official London residence of British sovereigns since 1837.
