With school back in session, we just wanted to let kids and their caretakers know about how to be an A+ patron this school year! Back to school, but not quite back to normal...- Just a reminder, patrons who are unvaccinated should wear a mask when they are indoors- that includes the library. Many people who are vaccinated are choosing to wear masks too.
- The library is open for browsing, reading, and even studying, but please be mindful during your visit:
- If an area is busy and social distancing isn't possible, think about browsing in another spot while you wait your turn. Who knows, you might end up finding a new favorite genre that way!
- Sometimes less is more. Keep in mind that masking all day at school can be tough, so masking after school at the library for long periods can be a big ask for kids.
- Plan ahead on busy afternoons. Place requests online using our catalog for pickup from our open holds shelf to save time. Simply find your holds under your last name and then head to the desk or to one of our spiffy new self-checks to check out your materials.
But some things are still the same as ever...- Children under the age of 10 must be supervised by a parent/caregiver at all times while in the library. Kids who are 10 and 11 can spend a limited amount of time in the library without their caretakers; check out our children's policies to get the details about what we expect from our young patrons and their guardians.
- It's easy to be an honor roll worthy library user:
- Walk while in the Library (that means no running, please).
- Pick up after yourself.
- Do not throw toys, books, etc... Intentionally trying to hurt another person will result in you being asked to leave the Library.
- Do not climb on the bookshelves.
- Please do not bring food into the Library. Water bottles are fine, but consume snacks outside or in the vestibule.
- Use your inside voice at all times (the librarians will try to remember to use their inside voices too).
- Tutoring is allowed in the area outside of the Local History Room. If you need help finding this magical tutoring zone, just stop by the Reference Desk and we'll show you. Read the full tutoring policy here.

Laurie Leavitt brings light and nature to the WPL Gallery Laurie Leavitt is a fine artist and Holliston resident who has worked in a variety of media through the years, including oil and watercolor painting, mixed media, and printmaking. Drawing inspiration from nature, she has produced a body of work that through a simplification of form, color and light represents a moment in time and place.
In addition, Laurie is a licensed art teacher holding a Master's in Education with a concentration in art. She has taught art and exhibited extensively in the Boston area. Her work can be viewed throughout September in the Weston Public Library Art Gallery and online at www.LaurieLeavitt.com.
