COA Community Updates
October Reflections & November Highlights

This month we noticed the COA was abuzz as people found their way indoors with the changing temperatures. Whether residents were here for their Medicare Open Enrollment appointment; learning to play bridge; jamming on the ukulele; enjoying our soft-pretzel grab-and-go; or learning about Benjamin Franklin from scholar, writer, and University of Maryland professor Richard Bell, the Community Center was filled with lively conversation, music, and...

3 men

... a joyful reunion

Surprises may await you at the Council on Aging! This was certainly the case for Weston resident Michael King who decided to attend the fall kick-off Coffee and Conversation event hosted by the COA. EJ Nicholas and Chris Conlon, two paramedics from the Weston Fire Department, who attended the coffee, were similarly surprised by the presence of Mr. King. The three men recognized each other immediately.

Several months before, Mr. King suffered a life-threatening medical emergency, and he credits EJ and Chris, who answered the call, with saving his life. This reunion provided Mr. King the opportunity to thank these heroes and give recognition for a job well done.

Enjoy coffee and conversation with our next event on November 15, followed by a presentation by the Weston Fire Department at 11am.
