Cooking Class: Holiday Baking

Celebrate the holidays together in a Zoom cooking class with chef Roberta Hing. We’ll start with a warming (and healthy!) carrot ginger soup and a pillowy braided challah bread to accompany. And what are the holidays without dessert? Ours will be a little different—a chocolate raspberry pavlova—light, yet decadent—a real show stopper! Afro-Caribbean Drum & Dance

Tuesday, December 14, 11:00-12:00 on Zoom

Tara Murphy, African and Afro-Caribbean dance and drumming teacher and performer, will weave lecture and stories of West Africa with a creative dance and drum class. Tara began studying her heritage through African studies at Yale University and was awarded a Yale fellowship to study traditional dance and drumming at the University of Legon in Ghana, West Africa. Since returning to the US, she has studied with many African and Afro-Caribbean artists. Learn about the history and importance of dance and drumming in West Africa and the power of dance to release energy, lift spirits and connect with others. With chair dancing and then drumming, we will get in touch with our innate rhythms and get energy flowing throughout the body. Contact the COA to register, 781-786-6280.

Food Preservation & Canning Interest

Meeting Wednesday, December 15, 2:00 at COA & Zoom

Are you interested in exploring food preservation and canning? The COA is hosting an informal meet-up for those interested in talking with and learning from others about this topic. Topics include food preservation, pressure canning, storage and dehydration. This group is for any level of experience, including those who are new to preserving and/or canning. Join others to discuss experience levels, frequency of meeting and to delegate a leader to support the COA in organizing this group for future meetings and programs.
