Elected & Appointed Town Government Volunteer Opportunities

Have you ever thought about giving back to the community or how you can affect change locally?  Weston's Town Government is supported by volunteers who serve on elected and appointed boards and committees. In fact, there are nearly 200 Weston residents who help make policy, develop and shape various Town projects, and give of their time and talents for the betterment of the community.

Current volunteer opportunities include elected offices and Select Board-appointed committees.

Select Board Appointed Positions

For the following Select Board appointed positions, please submit a volunteer application or a letter of interest. The application can be filled out and submitted online or it can be downloaded and emailed to selectboard@westonma.gov. Letters of interest can also be emailed or mailed to the Select Board, Weston Town Hall, PO Box 378. Click on the name of the committee to learn more about its charge and skills that are being sought.

The Town Caucus is Coming! Run for an Elected Office.

The following are the elected offices of Weston and the number of seats that are open:

• Select Board (1)
• School Committee (2)
• Recreation Commission (2)
• Planning Board (1)
• Board of Assessors (1)
• Board of Library Trustees (3)
• Board of Health (1)
• Moderator (1)
• Commissioners of Trust Funds (1)
• Measurers of Lumber (3)

What is the Town Caucus?

Weston has traditionally used the caucus process to nominate candidates to be placed on the ballot for the Annual Town Election in May. At this event, residents express interest in serving as an elected official. Weston voters in attendance will nominate the individual to run for that office and if more than one person is nominated to one seat, the attendees will cast votes for the nominee they want as the candidate. If the nominees receive enough votes, the individual(s) become the Caucus Nominee(s) and is/are placed on the Town Election Ballot. This year's Caucus will be held on Monday, March 7th, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. in the Weston Town Hall Auditorium.

Residents interested in running for office must be a registered voter in Weston.

Attend a Meeting - Upcoming meetings of the elected and appointed boards/committees are posted to Weston.org/Meetings. ALL board/committee meetings are open to the public.
