Trail Walk: Old Sears Estate

Tuesday, March 15

Meet at 12:50 at the Melone Homestead. Walk begins at 1:00

Explore the old Sears Estate, currently home to Land's Sakes’ headquarters. We will walk a loop around the property, including Duck Pond, the Mass Central Rail Trail, the site of the chestnut nursery, the Christmas tree farm, Lee's Bridge and Mill Pond. Directions: Take Boston Post Rd. to Crescent St. A mailbox with a Land’s Sake sign marks the driveway to 27 Crescent St. Go to the end of the driveway to a gravel parking lot just past the house. Participants will be notified by 9:00 am if the walk is cancelled due to inclement weather. Wear sturdy hiking shoes and bring water, snack and cell phone. A walking stick is encouraged, as the trail may be icy. Call the COA at 781-786-6280 to register.

Biopsychosocial Aspects of Sexuality & Aging

Wednesday, March 16, 1:00-2:00 on Zoom

While sex at an older age exists, the human body doesn’t always function the same way it did when we were younger. With frank discussion, Dr. Jane Fleishman will cover the biological, medical, and psychosocial parts of getting physical. Questions about painful penetration, hormonal changes and erection dysfunction are explained in this honest look at sex over 60. Call the COA at 781-786-6280 to register.

Opera Appreciation Series

Thursdays, through April 7, 10:00-12:00 at the COA

Opera instructor Ron Williams returns to the COA with this 8-week opera appreciation series. The series will explore the symphonies of Beethoven, the history of American Musical Theater, Verdi’s Othello, Puccini’s La Rondine, and the most popular work of Gilbert and Sullivan, HMS Pinafore. Each class includes overview, discussion and viewing of clips. Call the COA at 781-786-6280 to register.

Caregiver Support Group

Thursday, March 17, 10:00-11:30 at the COA

If you are seeing memory changes in a loved one, this group might help you. Members share stories and wisdom as well as resources and strategies for coping with the challenges of caring for someone at any stage of dementia. These meetings are hosted in-person at the COA with an opportunity to join virtually on Zoom. Contact the COA at 781-786-6280 to register. 


Neuropathy Support Group

Thursday, March 17, 1:00-3:00 on Zoom

These group meeting are open to anyone with neuropathy as well as family and friends. Contact the COA at 781-786-6280 to receive monthly Zoom link.
