1 - Town Manager Appointment
At their meeting on July 10th, the Selectmen appointed Leon A. Gaumond, Jr. to serve as Weston's next Town Manager, subject to negotiation of a contract. It is anticipated that Mr. Gaumond will begin mid-September, which will allow for a two-week overlap with Weston's current Town Manager.
Mr. Gaumond currently serves as the Town Administrator for the Town of Sturbridge. He formerly served as Town Administrator for the Town of West Boylston and the Executive Secretary for the Town of East Longmeadow, as well as serving as Chief of Staff for State Rep. Paul Caron. The Selectmen said their decision was very close, as Weston would have been well-served by all three finalists, but Mr. Gaumond was selected due to his particular background and expertise.
The three finalists were recommended by the Town Manager Screening Committee and were interviewed by the Selectmen at their meeting on June 25th. Those interviews can be seen online courtesy of Weston Media Center (35:35 mm).
After working for the Town of Weston for 34 years, Town Manager Donna VanderClock's last day in Weston will be September 28th. A public farewell party is being planned for September 26th.
2 - Summer Fun in Weston

3 - Town Center Improvement Project
The Town Center Planning Committee hosted a public input session in June where the planning consultants revealed the Town Center designs for traffic, parking, and public and open space areas. The design boards are physically posted outside the Auditorium of Town Hall and are also available online at Weston.org/TownCenter. The Committee continues to work on the design with the consultants and are hoping to bring a request for construction funds to Special Town Meeting on November 27th.
All meetings of the Town Center Planning Committee are open to the public and residents can subscribe to receive notification of when meeting agendas have been posted online.

- Rail Trail is still under construction. Crews are currently installing fencing and will be laying the top course of pavement soon. The pavement will need time to cool and cure; please allow that time in order to avoid damage or personal injury (fresh pavement is really hot). Also, DCR is meeting with the Conservation Commission on July 17th to discuss its plans and timeline for opening up the Conant Road underpass tunnel
