DNA testing of dog waste has been effectively employed in Europe and is being considered in several cities in the U.S. It would require taking a sample of saliva from each dog who uses the trails to be logged into a database. That information would later be used to match with dog waste left behind, and result in a citation for the offending owner.

Any child should be able to walk from their house to any other house in Weston on sidewalks, foot trails or low-traffic streets (speed limits of less than 20 miles an hour). Walking for any house to another was possible in 1712 when Weston was founded, in 1812 at the 100th anniversary, and in 1912 at the 200th anniversary. However, it was not true in 2012 at our 300th anniversary. Let’s make Weston walkable again by 2062, at our 350th anniversary. This will require a coordinated effort with Weston Forest and Trail Association, the Conservation Commission, the Department of Public Works, and the Traffic and Sidewalk Commission. It will require miles of new footpaths throughout town.
